In the mild, wintry, salty night of a city in a rush,
Two heads lean close, their hands exploring hope,
Clumsily pulled on covers warm unresolved love,
Cold feet squirm and stretch toward a city in a hush.
In the still night together, two minds lie awake,
Their hearts a little open, like the doorway ajar,
Little bits of love and fear wafting in and out,
Little bits of somethings, borrowed and old
And the soft shuffle of misty, new dreams waltzing
With the moon looking in through the bay window,
Over the calm, deep ocean blue, yet so very far.
