Singing about togetherness, the strains
Meander lazily, then hold hands again
Like a leaf's little finger and a dew drop
Holding on, reveling in that fragile embrace
By softly touching, defying the wind's advice
To cling.
And when the mist rolls along slender ribs
Tentative, like a tear on a cheek, a droplet
Lingers on leaf tip, with the bittersweet hope
That only gentle skin of water, and tender leaf
Can know.
Holding on, unmindful of the whim of the wind
And when the early sun's soft insistence dances
With gentle remonstrances from prism and leaf
Who is to tell which one is dew drop, and which
The leaf.
