Saw this as a GD topic somewhere. First reaction was whaaaaaa? Then realized if its given as a GD topic more than one opinion must be possible. SO tried to think of an alternative line of thought.
Beyond ashes to ashes, dust-to-dust, on the metaphysical level, there is immense scope for debate about whether death opens new doors. On the other hand, the suggestion that there is life after death in itself is preposterous simply because anything after death is not life. The metaphysical and the spiritual are not alive- they are in the minds of people. Spirits and ghosts are but mental images. However, the human body, in all its flesh, blood and bones, is nothing but energy, which becomes one with the environment. Energy cannot be destroyed. Who is to say that the energy that emanates from the decomposition of different bodies, do not signatures of their own? We can hypothesise that the energy that becomes a part of the environment after a man dies is a signature of that man that lives on after his death. Puritans would call it his soul; I prefer to call it his residual fumes. Who is to say that this invisible energy does not have a mind of its own? The mind, after all, is an idea. It is not the brain, it s not material. The mind is to the body, what God is to the world. It dictates the physical. It is supreme. It is the metaphysical. Cannot this supreme entity control gases in the atmosphere, just as it can control nerves?
On the other hand, the spirit, if we call the residue of a dead man that, need not be related to the man that it was in life. Even if there were forces controlling the remains of a man, they would not be controlling life. They would be controlling something beyond death. People who have come back from the dead, who have been pronounced technically dead for a certain period that is usually, ironically, fatal, but who have been miraculously brought back to life, people who have arrested during operations were resuscitated- some of these people have strange stories to tell. To be have your heart and brain stop, and t still see things in the mind, and to have distinct memories when brought back, is probably one of the most anomalous and inexplicable phenomena we will ever be confronted with. Many of these stories might be concocted, many might be a result of thought that happens after being resuscitated, which people mistake for thought before that, but we cannot turn a Nelson’s eye to the huge amounts of data on paranormal activity. Most of it could be waved off as media hype, but a significant number of accounts come from people who are not interested in the media, who are as far removed from it as possible. And too many of them are strikingly similar to ignore.
Ok, now it all sounds like gibberish to me. Oh! This is like the boy in this book that I was reading, 'The curious incident of the gog at night-time' says- he says the molecules of his mom (who died) must be floating somewhere above Africa. This boy is spastic and has a photographic memory and is a genius. He's the narrator and an impressive one at that. Very kewl. He thinks like me. :D
