My poor tummy

A fly flew into my mouth today when I was yawning. He traveled down my food pipe lined with epithelial cells, through my small intestine and fell into my stomach. There he saw a half-digested lettuce leaf from a subway salad looking very green and sick. He decided to explore his new surroundings and went to another part where he saw some sitting in a corner looking very forlorn. 'She forgot about us. She knows we don't like fast food', they sniffed disconsolately.

He swam his way through the stomach juices and bumped into a cluster of 'chakori' pieces en route. "We are not able to dissolve', they set up a collective wail. A meaty couple of roasted chicken breast and egg pieces were floating hand in hand. 'We like each other but the others don't like us. They shoo us away from everywhere. We're non-vegetarian no, that's why.', the chicken piece, who was obviously the man in the relationship, said in a conspiratorial hush. The fly was about to say how sorry he was and about to extend a haltere of friendship, when whoosh! they were washed away and tossed around by a freak flood of yellow-orange liquid that spread aroudn leaving everyone looking sicker than ever. 'That's maaza.', chicken piece sneered. '9 times out of 10 he is stale and spoils our stay here. He gets out much sooner though', he added resentfully. 'I hope you aren't too uncomfortable', he said turning to look for Mr. Fly. But the flood had proved too debilitating for his delicate body. He lay floating in the quasi-primordial soup with thousands of glazed eyes staring at the lining tissue above him.

All the undigested particles organized a memorial service for Mr. Fly (because they had more strength than the half-dissolved ones to organize, put things together et al) which everyone attended, forgot their internal animosities, and shed sincere tears.

Moral of the story: Never let indigestion cloud your perspective. A dead fly in your stomach is better than a live one there.

I hope you had a most enjoyable last half hour, Mr. Fly. May your soul rest in peas.
